All of the players protected from the expansion draft are more than likely on the team, barring a trade, loan or injury — Freddie Ljungberg, Fredy Montero, Kasey Keller, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Tyrone Marshall, Steve Zakuani, Patrick Ianni, Osvaldo Alonso, Brad Evans, Leo Gonzalez and Nate Jaqua. So is defender James Riley, who escaped being selected by the new Philadelphia Union when that club opted for Sebastien Le Toux from last year’s Sounders FC roster.
